Prague is the largest city and is the capital of the Czech Republic with 1.3 million inhabitants. It is the most beautiful and traditionally one of the cultural centres of Europe, hosting many cultural events as music and film festivals, as well as vernissages and fashion shows. There are hundreds of theatres, concert halls, galleries, cinemas and music clubs in the city.
You should visit it's many museums and cultural sights and taste famous Czech beer and cuisine. The national dish is "vepřo-knedlo-zelo" - roasted pork with sauerkraut and dumplings.
Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites, making the city one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, receiving more than 4.1 million international visitors annually. Nicknames for Prague have included "Prague - Mother of Cities", "City of a Hundred Spires" or "Golden City".
You can walk on the Royal Route, once taken by Bohemian kings and emperors on their coronation procession. It goes from Vyšehrad and ends in St Vitus Cathedral in Hradčany.
The Vltava river flows through the centre of Prague and spreads over nine hills. 18 bridges span the river to link the city´s districts.
Prague is a city with various architecture styles like Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Art Nouveau. Prague also offers a rich night life. You can choose between a lot of clubs, bars or lively Prague pubs.
